Rubik's Cube
a142.jpg
SAN FRANCISCO Jan 16, 2006 - A 20-year-old California Institute of Technology student set a new world's record for solving the popular Rubik's Cube puzzle, turning the tiled brain-twister from scrambled to solved in 11.13 seconds.

13th Sign
a143.jpg
I have a passion for bad horror movies, I'm watching one right this very second called 13th Sign, it's been on for literally 4 minutes, and I can already tell this is going to reach new lows of bad.  It starts off with a slow motion dream sequence with distorted faces and voices in the background.  Gold.

Cotton Candy
a146.jpg
Cotton candy frightens me a little bit.  There's something otherwordly and unnatural about it.  I know it's just sugar, but still...it's not right, and it should be stopped before someone gets hurt.
One day cotton candy will overthrow the government and enslave the human race.

Pain in the Ass
a148.jpg
My friend wanted a bracelet. I set forth to make it. This is what ensued:
1. It's too long...so I shortened it
2. The magnetic clasps stick together...so I changed them
3. It folds over...so I added a row of beads
4. Now that it doesn't fold over, the magnetic clasp will be ok...so I called her a pain in the ass and told her to kiss mine.

Metal Queen
a149.jpg
Today I heard Lee Aaron's Metal Queen, I'm saddened and thrilled that I know the words:
She come like thunder.. risin' from the ground
She'll bring you under she moves without a sound
She holds a passion, like no other could..
Now when she talks.. the word's understood
Metal Queen..

Peter, Peter Caviar Eater

Stewie: "I say mother, this hotdog has been on this plate for a full minute and it hasn't cut itself."
Lois: "Honey, I'll be right there."
Stewie: "By all means take your time! Oh when you finally do get around to it, i'll be the one covered in flies with a belly that protudes half way to bloody Boston."

Obsessions with Youth
a152.jpg
Hollywood's obsession with botox and collagen scares me to death. Why, I ask you, why?

Meg Ryan used to be cute.
Jessica Simpson used to have normal lips.
Lindsay Lohan used to...well she's always been a bit of a mess.
I don't know who Amanda Lepore is, but damn.

Raspberry
a154.jpg
These beads are called raspberry beads - not to be confused with Prince's Raspberry Beret.

And who doesn't want a raspberry coloured beret?  And who uses the word raspberry to describe colour?  Nobody.

Spicy
a156.jpg
Some info from Ever Wonder Why? by Douglas B. Smith.
"Spicy foods, such as chili peppers, contains a chemical that stimulates the same nerve endings in the mouth as a rise in temperature does. The nerves don't know what caused the stimulation; they just tell the brain that the termperature near the face has risen.  The brain responds by cooling the face - sweating.

Soul Tax
a157.jpg
In 1718, Peter the Great imposed a tax on souls.  So everyone had to pay the tax - if you didn't believe that humans had souls - then you had to pay a "religious dissenters" tax.  Peter also taxed beards, beehives, hats, boots, basements, chimneys, all males as well as births and marriages.

Nigh' Nigh'
a158.jpg
If it takes you less than 5 minutes to fall asleep - you're probably sleep deprived.
Healthy sleepers fall asleep within 10-15 minutes. Until the turn of the 20th century, humans slept 10 hours a night - now we sleep 7.  Why did we lose 3 hours?  The lightbulb  was invented - so we started staying up later.
